Destiny is extending the time Xur, the exotic-items merchant, is available to trade with players this weekend, in light of the troubles many have had connecting to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live since Christmas.
Destiny extends Xur’s hours in light of DDoS attack on PSN, Xbox Live

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.
Xur will be in the Tower until at least Monday at 10 p.m. PT, Bungie said on Destiny’s official blog. The studio also said it will “keep an eye on the overall situation, and prolong the extension, as needed for as long as is feasible.”
Players cash in Strange Coins and Motes of Light found in the game for exotic weapons, armors and consumables. He regularly shows up on weekends.
PSN and Xbox Live both came under a denial-of-service attack on Christmas Day that Xbox Live recovered from on Friday and which PlayStation Network seems to have recovered from now. PSN’s official status page says it is up for all PlayStation devices.
