Resogun lands on PS3 and Vita Dec. 23

Resogun will be released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita Dec. 23 for $14.99, XDev Studio Europe's Pedro Sousa revealed today in a PlayStation Blog post.

Climax Studios will handle both ports for the game that developer Housemarque launched alongside the PlayStation 4 last year. Those who own the original version will be able to download the new versions free of charge.

Resogun will arrive on the comparatively less powerful systems with some graphical caveats, Sousa explained.

"Duly, the biggest technical difference is that the PS Vita and PS3 games run at 30 instead of 60 frames per second," he wrote. "This was a very difficult decision to consider, but a very necessary one to allow the team to focus on what was possible and to make the best game possible for both of these platforms. The framerate is locked, so you can expect solid performance even under a big storm of voxels."

The PS3 and Vita games will allow players to share their saves across systems. The handheld version also includes an option to customize controls, including touch-based commands.

Today's news confirms a PEGI listing that appeared for the PS3 version earlier this week. For more on the PS4 original, read Polygon's Resogun review.
