Metal Gear Online made its debut tonight at The Game Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, thanks to Kiefer Sutherland, the new voice of Snake, and Hideo Kojima, the series' creator.
Sutherland took the stage to share his excitement about participating in the video game industry, and expounded on his belief in an "unbelievable synthesis" where the future of entertainment encompasses movies, television and video games. Then Kojima took the stage to present the versus mode in Metal Gear Online, which will be included with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
Check out the trailer above to see the first gameplay footage, which shows player customization, Snake and characters infiltrating a desert compound. They marked targets, used an iDroid like in Metal Gear 5: Ground Zeroes and coordinated their attack.
The trailer also featured a shot of Ocelot, Snake riding a mech and revealed the subtitle, Tactical Team Operations.
Also, Snake took a selfie. With Ocelot.
Host Geoff Keighley announced Metal Gear Online's debut on Twitter last week, when it was rumored to be an online component for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The game is headed to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC in 2015.
