Facepunch Studios’ next effort is called Before and is a survival game that takes place in the stone age. Its playfully low-resolution art style is a marked contrast to the realism of its previous title Rust, which is still in Steam’s Early Access program.

Wooly mammoths, volcanos and stone-tipped spears rounded out a stylistic short trailer that was short on actual details of gameplay. Before’s new website goes into only slightly more detail. Players will be in charge of an entire tribe of people, tasked with hunting and foraging and finding shelter. Eventually, “hierarchies and power structures” will evolve, as well as “beliefs and rituals.” No release date has been set, but the game is slated to appear on Linux, Mac and PC.
