CDProjekt Red’s senior game designer Damien Monnier was on hand at tonight’s Game Awards with a short new trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as well as the announcement that players will have a chance to play as more than just Geralt of Rivia.
The Witcher 3 will let you play as multiple characters

Charlie Hall is Polygon’s tabletop editor. In 12-plus years as a journalist & photographer, he has covered simulation, strategy, and spacefaring games, as well as public policy.
Monnier wouldn’t say who that character was, but chances are good that it will be one of the two female characters first announced at this year’s E3 — Ciri or Yennefer.
In the fiction of the Witcher universe Geralt is a kind of father-figure for Ciri, who he has trained up in some of the skills of monster hunting he specializes in. Taking control of her in The Witcher 3 would be similar to controlling Geralt himself. However, dramatically different gameplay could result if players are given access to the sorceress Yennefer who fights primarily with spells rather than swords.
