God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe unveiled the new game from his new studio, The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency, at PlayStation Experience today: Drawn to Death, a multiplayer arena shooter that takes place in the pages of a high school student's notebook.
The setting lends itself to a sketchy, pencil and ink aesthetic; players will fight in worlds that look like they're drawn on ruled notebook paper and the game's characters look like fantastical humans and otherworldly creatures fueled by a teenager's imagination.
"We want Drawn To Death to play like the offspring of an old school arena shooter (with updated, modern sensibilities) and a hardcore brawler/fighting game," Jaffe said in a post on the PlayStation Blog. "We want our signature launch mode — a 4 Player Free For All Deathmatch — to be action packed while also giving Players the need and ability to master advanced environment movement, learn and exploit enemy tells, and form clever strategies that pay off in big victories!"
Drawn to Death is currently in a pre-alpha stage, Jaffe said, and will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive game. The developer is currently accepting signups for early access to the game on its website.
