If you thought console faceplates went out in the last Circuit City liquidation sale six years ago, think again. Sony has reintroduced them something called “Project SkyLight Beta.”
The PS4 brings back faceplates

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.
The first two in this series are for LittleBigPlanet 3 and The Order: 1886. They mount to the glossy portion of the console’s top, so “faceplate” may be a misnomer. In fact, if the PlayStation 4’s drive is facing you, whether standing upright or laying flat, the design is basically invisible. OK. These things are $24.99 each.
Find them here. Sony says more are planned.
