Sony Online Entertainment today announced that its zombie apocalypse MMO H1Z1 will be available for Early Access on Jan. 15.
H1Z1 set for Steam Early Access arrival on Jan. 15

According to company president John Smedley, there will be two levels of access available: one for $19.99 and another set at a price to be announced. “The difference between the two will be things like access to some of our different game mode servers, which you can get access to by purchasing tickets or earning them as well, and other specifics we’ll be outlining soon,” he said.
Posting on Reddit, Smedley stressed that this is an Early Access offer and that the game is not yet complete. “What you’ll be playing January 15th is a really fun game, but it’s early. Our goal is to have you help us finish it and have it be a game we can build a large community in over time.
“Is it going to be a finished game? Absolutely not ... The goal here is to let you in early and help us mold it into a game you want to be a part of for quite a long time.” The game will begin with “roughly 64k square kilometers,” with plans to grow the playing area “right away.”
H1Z1 is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game set during the zombie apocalypse. The free-to-play title sets players in a wasted United States, roaming the country for shelter, food and resources to craft weapons and survive.
