The Last of Us Remastered multiplayer gets brutal executions that the PS3 couldn't handle

The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog is releasing some new add-ons for the game's multiplayer component today, including nine new "special executions" that are particularly ferocious, the studio announced today.

Each of the kill animations is for a particular weapon class, and each one costs $0.99. The memory limitations of the PlayStation 3 hardware forced Naughty Dog to leave out some of the execution animations from that version of the game, according to the studio.

More downloadable content is coming today, like the Tactical Weapons Bundle, which comes with four weapons — including a crossbow — for $2.99. Players can defend themselves with the Risk Management Survival Skills Bundle for $3.99, and look good while doing it with the Misfit Head Item Bundle for $6.99. Finally, Naughty Dog is also offering options for showing off in two different packs of gestures, each of which costs $2.49.

You can check out the add-ons, including the devastating execution animations, in the trailer above. For more on The Last of Us Remastered, check out the update to our original PS3 review.
