The week before the Super Bowl, while members of the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks were celebrating and dining in New York City, Broncos linebacker Nate Irving had other plans.
"I'm actually going to sit in my hotel room, play my Pokemon game," Irving told The Wall Street Journal.
Irving grew up in Newark, N.J., where he played football and Pokemon card games. As an adult, he spends his day off, Tuesday, playing Call of Duty with an old college classmate.
He admits that he sometimes gets grief from his teammates and occasionally even hides his handheld, but he takes the ribbing in stride.
"I know not too many people are into the things I'm into," he said. "I just embrace that and I enjoy it."
