New Heavenly Sword film trailer shows Nariko in action

A new trailer courtesy of IGN for the CG animated film based on Ninja Theory's Heavenly Sword shows femme fatale Nariko in action, wielding the titular blade as gracefully as she does in the 2007 PlayStation 3 original.

The trailer, titled "Why Nariko is Badass," includes a menacing voice-over heralding the heroine's coming.

"There's a new girl in town, and her name is Nariko," the narrator says. "You'll wanna be on her good side."

The film is currently in development with Blockade Entertainment, the studio also working on the upcoming Ratchet and Clank movie. Heavenly Sword is slated to be released in spring of this year and will launch digitally worldwide and with a limited theatrical release in some countries. The film, announced last October, stars Anna Torv as Nariko — who also voiced Nariko in the game — and Alfred Molina as antagonist King Bohan. A "new and pivotal character" created for the film named Loki will be voiced by Thomas Jane.
