Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark was outed by a U.K. branch of Amazon last week and announced officially at the Hasbro Preview event yesterday during the American International Toy Fair in New York. Activision will publish the game.
Update: Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is scheduled for release this June, publisher Activision announced. According to a press release from the company, the game is a "complement" to Michael Bay's fourth Transformers film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, which will hit theaters June 27. Rise of the Dark Spark will bring together the world of Bay's films and the Cybertron universe, with more than 40 different playable characters across both universes.
While Rise of the Dark Spark will feature gameplay that is "similar to High Moon Studios' Cybertron" games, the Examiner reports that it will be developed by Austin, Texas-based Edge of Reality, which is currently working on the shooter Loadout. The game will bring back the four-player co-op mode Escalation from High Moon's games, and will feature new defense and leveling systems, with one set of experience earned across the campaign and multiplayer modes.
Update 2: An Activision representative confirmed to Polygon that Edge of Reality is developing all versions of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark except for the 3DS version, which is being made by WayForward Technologies.
