GaymerX2 launches fundraiser for LGBTQ-friendly convention

New, 4 comments

The organizers behind the convention that celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community in games, GaymerX, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for its 2014 event.

GaymerX2 will be held at the InterContinental Hotel in San Francisco from July 11-13. The three-day event will feature a host of talks, panels and workshops from game developers and LGBTQ leaders. Like with last year's GaymerX, the event will focus on celebrating diversity and inclusivity in gaming. One such talk from last year's event from Electronic Arts developers can be viewed below.

The GaymerX2 Kickstarter campaign has a funding goal of $10,000, which is the amount required for a deposit for the convention space. Stretch goals range from $12,000 for free gender pronoun sticker add-ons to badges to $50,000 for game tournaments with prizes and trophies.

The event will feature concert performances from musicians Virt, Aethernaut and 2 Mello and a guest appearance from the first openly gay WWE celebrity, Darren Young. The campaign has 33 days to go.
