Starbound creators to pick up the pace on development

Starbound developer Chucklefish is preparing to "pick up" its work pace after putting finishing touches on its UK office, creator Finn "Tiy" Brice announced via the game's website.

The sandbox space game is currently available as a Steam Early Access title for Linux, Mac and Windows PC. According to Brice, assembling the team in one place will make work "much more efficient and creative." Furthermore, the developer plans to push updates out more frequently.

"Essentially we're separating content updates and engine updates," Brice wrote. "Content updates are going to be pushed to the server as and when content is finished being produced, we're no longer going to wait on engine updates to push them out at the same time. This also means engine updates will get additional internal testing.

"The artists have been working on a bunch of new content that's pretty much ready to go as soon as this is done. We'll also be adding the best/most fitting mods to the game with increased frequency."

Brice added that content updates will not increase the version number, meaning players won't have to update their mods.
