A new teaser video for Tom Clancy's EndWar Online, the free-to-play spin-off of Tom Clancy's EndWar, showcases footage of assembling armies in preparation for the start of an upcoming three-day test period codenamed Tech Assault.
Tech Assault will run from Feb. 27 to Feb. 30, ahead of the game's official closed beta period.
EndWar Online is a strategy-based massively multiplayer online game developed to be played in-browser. The game's creative director Michael Madej told Polygon that Ubisoft hopes the development of a browser-based release will solve an issue at the heart of its predecessor: Not everyone playing the original EndWar was connected online.
"The original game was on console and it was faction versus faction, but what was lacking was not everyone was connected," Madej said in an interview with Polygon. "There wasn't a shared theater of war. But on browser, almost everyone has a web browser, so we can try to achieve the goal of the original EndWar of having everyone be connected."
Players will be able to take part in single-player PvE missions or play against others in PvP matches. In PvE mode, the storyline is all about rebuilding and reuniting, with the story being told through 10 chapters - each chapter contains five missions and each mission has its own series of battles.
Ubisoft is now accepting sign ups for its upcoming closed beta.
