Batman: Arkham Origins upcoming DLC to star Mr. Freeze

Batman: Arkham Origins' upcoming downloadable content, Cold, Cold Heart, will focus on the franchise's coolest villain, Mr. Freeze, according to a new trailer posted by DC Entertainment.

Developer Warner Bros. Games Montreal teased the new content last month, along with an image inviting players to the Humanitarian of the Year Awards at the Wayne Manor on New Year's Eve. WB Games vice president Ames Kirshen calls Cold, Cold Heart a "big, open-world narrative-based DLC."

"We're super excited to give fans the origin of this great Batman character," Kirshen said. "It's like a mini chapter in the game ... This is in-game mission story content with a brand new story wrapped around Mr. Freeze in the Arkham Origins settings."

In Batman lore, Mr. Freeze, real name Victor Fries, was a cryogenics researcher whose wife was diagnosed with a fatal disease. Mr. Freeze assumed his villainous identity after an accident that transformed his body.

Watch the trailer above around the one-minute mark for a gameplay teaser. The DLC will be available April 22 for PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360; it will not launch for Wii U.

Earlier this month, WB Games Montreal said that it had no plans to release a patch to address ongoing problems, but was instead focusing on its story DLC. For more on Batman: Arkham Origins, read our review.
