Team17 Software, the U.K.-based studio best known for its Worms franchise, is working on a new game called Flockers, managing director Debbie Bestwick announced during a PlayStation Open Day in Leamington, U.K., today.
Sony periodically holds PlayStation Open Days to give independent developers information about making games on PlayStation platforms. Bestwick revealed Flockers during today's event, but said Team17 plans to do a full unveiling of the title next week.
It's the studio's first original intellectual property in more than a dozen years: Prior to Flockers, Team17 developed the racing title Stunt GP on Dreamcast, PlayStation 2 and Windows PC in 2001. The company said last August that it was planning to release a new IP in the next few years.
"This is the most important game we've worked on in over a decade," Bestwick told Develop today.
The studio is also currently working on its latest Worms title, Worms Battlegrounds, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Update: Team17 will unveil Flockers at gaming convention EGX Rezzed, which takes place in Birmingham, England from March 28-30. Attendees will be able to go hands-on with Team17's new Windows PC title.
