Sega Genesis steampunk shooter Steel Empire heading to Japan on 3DS this March

A Nintendo 3DS remake of the steampunk-styled Sega Genesis release Steel Empire is launching in Japan at the end of March, Siliconera reports.

Originally developed by game studio Hot B, the remake is now being published by its former developers who have since moved on to create a new company, Starfish. Mebuis, a studio best known for its work on Battle Princess of Arcadia, is in charge of bringing the retro title to 3DS systems.

The side-scrolling steampunk game launched on Sega Genesis consoles in 1992 before later being ported to Game Boy Advance in 2004. Hot B lead game designer Yoshinori Satake is now planning a sequel to the original game, called Burning Steel.
