Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition hits PS4 March 4 with viewer-run Broadcast mode

Top down shoot 'em up Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is coming to PlayStation 4 on March 4, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.

This upgraded version of Housemarque's 2010 PlayStation 3 zombie apocalypse shooter will be available through the PlayStation Store for $14.99 or free with PlayStation Plus as part of the Instant Game Collection.

Apocalypse Edition will feature the original game's full campaign mode, which can be played single-player and with online or local co-op, as well as The Road to Devastation expansion, which adds the Arcade and Endless game modes. Housemarque has also made a number of "enhancements" specifically for this PS4 version. The game will play in 1080p HD and include new textures and effects, as well as a quick weapon select option for combat. The title is also compatible with the PlayStation companion app.

New to Dead Nation for PS4 is Challenge mode, which allows players to send their scores to friends. Players will play alongside their friends' avatars in these challenge levels, racing against them to beat their score. Players can also select and tackle challenges posted to the Dead Nation leaderboards.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition also features Broadcast+ mode: here, while players stream their game, viewers can influence the difficulty by voting through the PS4 or via web browser for positive or negative in-game effects. There are 30 different effects viewers can influence, from spawning more ammo packs to disabling players' sprint ability. Voters will also appear as named zombies in the streamer's game.
