See the future of Eve Online, Dust 514 and more at Eve Fanfest 2014

Attendees at Eve Fanfest 2014, this year's edition of CCP Games' annual celebration of the Eve universe, will be able to catch glimpses of the future of Eve Online, Dust 514 and other related titles, the studio announced today.

Programming at the three-day festival includes the first live demo of Eve Online's 20th expansion, which is set for release this summer. Fans of Dust 514, the PlayStation 3-exclusive shooter that ties into Eve Online, will be able to get the first-ever hands-on time with "its next major evolution," according to a press release from CCP. Fanfest attendees will also have the opportunity to play the latest build of Eve: Valkyrie, the virtual reality dogfighting game that is being built exclusively for the Oculus Rift and will be co-published by the headset's creators, Oculus VR.

Along with the previously announced dedication ceremony for the Eve Online monument that will be placed in the harbor of Reykjavik, Iceland — CCP's hometown — Fanfest 2014 will feature the return of "Make Eve Real" sessions. The speakers at those talks will focus on the ways in which the future depicted in Eve Online may not be all that far-flung. CCP will also offer more information on Eve transmedia collaborations, such as the company's partnership with Dark Horse Comics, which recently produced the graphic novel Eve: True Stories.

Eve Fanfest 2014 will run from May 1-3 at the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center (photo above) in Reykjavik. For more on the world of Eve Online, check out our recent feature on "the most thrilling boring game in the universe."
