EverQuest Next, Sony Online Entertainment's upcoming massively multiplayer online game, will support the Oculus Rift, said studio head John Smedley in a Reddit AMA last month.
Asked about the Oculus Rift, Smedley said that EverQuest Next will support the headset "in some way, shape or form" because "it's really damn cool and programmers love that stuff." EverQuest Next is currently in development at Sony Online on Windows PC, and Smedley said in the same AMA that the studio will "absolutely" be bringing the game to PlayStation 4.
Another Reddit user asked Smedley about compatibility with other virtual reality devices such as the Virtuix Omni and Sixense's STEM System. Smedley didn't confirm support for anything specific, but said, "Hearing good things about 2 competitors... one of which actually comes from Sony."
Sony unveiled a headset that can support gaming, the HMZ-T3Q, during the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show. It's unclear if that's the Oculus Rift competitor that Smedley was referring to.
