King of Kong director reportedly in negotiations to head Uncharted film project

Director Seth Gordon, best known for his work on films Identity Thief and Horrible Bosses, as well as the gamer-centric documentary King of Kong, is reportedly in negotiations with Sony Pictures Entertainment to direct the upcoming live-action screen adaptation of the Uncharted video game series, according to Deadline.

The Uncharted adaptation was previously helmed by director David O. Russell prior to his leaving to direct the now Oscar nominated film American Hustle in 2011. Director Neil Burger was later attached to the project before also reportedly leaving in 2012.

Likewise, a new draft of the film's script has been developed following an earlier version by the writers of Disney's National Treasure franchise Marianne and Cormac Wibberley. This most recent script is the work of Safe House writer David Guggenheim.

Producers intend for the film to enter production later this year.
