The game draws from Falling Skies' post-apocalyptic setting, where civilians try to flee Boston following an alien invasion. In Falling Skies: Planetary Warfare, players will be able to choose whether they want to play as the commander of the human resistance, or if they want to be an alien invader.
Players will have to construct and maintain a base and, depending on the side they've chosen, defend it from incoming attacks or try to wipe it out. Resource management will play a big role in the survival of either race.
"Many classic titles have explored the aliens vs. humans conflict, and we wanted Falling Skies: Planetary Warfare to be reminiscent of those games," said Matt Scott, CEO of Little Orbit. "It will be up to players to pick aside and craft their own strategy to beat challenging adversaries — or their friends."
