Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden developer Team Ninja is currently working on an unannounced title for PlayStation 4, studio head Yosuke Hayashi told Dengeki Online.
Hayashi said the game is being developed internally within Team Ninja. He only mentions PS4 and it is unclear whether the game will be intended for other platforms; historically, Xbox consoles have made less ground in Japan than Sony consoles, although most Japan-developed titles — including entries in Team Ninja's own franchises — have been brought West for both PlayStation and Xbox hardware.
In a developer diary posted in December, Comcept head and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z director Keiji Inafune said Team Ninja was working on another core entry in the Ninja Gaiden franchise.
"Team Ninja is thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden," he said in the video.
"For example, if the games were food, the Ninja Gaiden series would be a rich meaty entree and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z would be dessert," he added of the spin-off title, which is being handled by developer Spark Unlimited.
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will launch for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 18 in North America and March 21 in Europe.
