Here's what to expect from the Heroes of the Storm alpha

As Blizzard Entertainment's mutiplayer online battle arena Heroes of the Storm approaches its technical alpha, the developer released a new video walking viewers through what they can expect from the testing phase.

In the walkthrough, posted above, community manager Kevin "Cloaken" Johnson runs down what players will see when they first boot up the alpha. The video begins with a quick look at the opening tutorial and quests that will unlock once the tutorial is completed.

Completing quests gives players experience points and completing character-specific quests will unlock new cosmetic skins. Some quests will also unlock additional gameplay modes and features, such as a practice mode that allows players to dig into the game without having to compete with other players.

The video also gives a quick look at the HUD, how players can keep track of their progression within the game and individual characters stats.

Earlier this month, Blizzard announced that it would be inviting select users into the early technical alpha for Heroes of the Storm, which was revealed last fall to be the rebranding of in-development MOBA Blizzard All-Stars. The game will launch for Mac and Windows PC at an undetermined date.
