PlayStation 4 price rising $50 in Canada

The PlayStation 4 is due for a $50 price bump at Canadian retailers, the Toronto Sun reports.

Speaking with the publication, a Sony representative said the price increase is a response "to changes in the market environment." As of today, the console's price will rise from $399.99 to $449.99. Prices for additional items, such as the DualShock 4 controller and the PlayStation Camera, are expected to increase between $5 and $64.99.

Next-gen game prices for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have already been increased to $64.99, while games such as Infamous: Second Son and MLB 14 The Show are expected to launch with a $69.99 price point.

In the U.S., a 500GB PlayStation 4 still sells for $399.99. The system sold more than one million units in the U.S. and Canada within its first 24 hours at launch; last month, cumulative sales were more than 5.3 million worldwide.
