FIFA 14 World Cup showcases gameplay and celebration in its newest trailer

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

Germany's Philipp Lahm, England's Steven Gerrard, Brazil's Thiago Silva and the United States' Clint Dempsey highlight this trailer for 2014 FIFA World Cup, showcasing the cutscenes, set pieces and gameplay to be found inside EA Sports' special edition for world football's main event.

New to this year's version, key moments will be augmented with all-new crowd scenes and participation, from more than just the stadiums in Brazil. Scoring a goal with England (last World Cup championship: 1966) will take players to a crowd reaction live in Trafalgar Square, EA Sports promises. Fireworks, confetti and ceremonies will figure into all the matches, too.

2014 FIFA World Cup, like previous World Cup editions, is being sold separately from the main FIFA game. It is available only for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will launch in North America on April 15.
