At the 2014 Game Developer Choice Awards last week, Ken Kutaragi — former chairman and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment and "Father of the PlayStation" — received the Lifetime Achievement Award commemorating his contributions to the game industry.
In honor of this occasion, comedy video troupe Mega 64 put together a video telling the "true story" of Kutaragi's work on the PlayStation and its subsequent launch. The video, which was shown during the awards ceremony, is reminiscent of a cheesy late 80s action film — complete with shoddy voice acting and overdramatic action.
You can watch all of "Kutaragi's Way," which includes some pretty crazy and bloody explosions and images of classic consoles being set on fire, above.
