Insurgency's first major update Molotov Spring to add free maps, game modes

Insurgency, New World Interactive's squad-based multiplayer shooter, will add two maps, more game modes and improved gameplay for free with its Molotov Spring update, the developer announced today.

The update, which will be available later this week, also includes additional weapons and attachments. According to the developer, the update is "the first of many free content updates." More details on the update are expected closer to launch. Watch the trailer below to see the game in action.

Insurgency, which supports up to 32 players per match, requires participants to work together strategically. It began as a Half-Life 2 mod and was later released as a standalone game for Steam Early Access. Additional content becomes available as it releases to those who've purchased the game.

Insurgency launched for Mac and Windows PC via Steam Jan. 22. The game is available for $14.99. For more on how the mod evolved into a full-fledged game, read our interview with community manager Andrew Spearin.
