Planetside 2 is set to receive balance changes, a new aerial vehicle, 64-bit system support and more in upcoming updates, creative director Matt Higby highlighted in the latest development roadmap video.
Updates scheduled for the coming months include tweaks to melee weapon, physics, along with balance changes for vehicles and weapons. Tentative plans for May include a new swamp-covered continent called Hossin, continent locking and changes for the combat medic class.
With the roll out of the Mission System, the developer hopes to "eliminate those 'what do I do now?' moments and actively encourage better fights" and will introduce new mission types such as Air Strike, Armor Support, Air Superiority, Anti-Armor and Request Reinforcements. You can read the full roadmap on the Planetside 2 website.
The video also highlights a sneak peek at the new four person aerial vehicle, the Valkyrie. The fast attack aircraft is designed for deploying a small squad quickly and is scheduled to hit Planetside 2 in summer, earlier on the Public Test Server.
Sony Online Entertainment revealed in January that it will deliver weekly updates to the online shooter every Wednesday beginning Jan. 15. The regular updates allow for more frequent content drops, as well as a higher response rate from the studio to address bugs and balance issues.
PlanetSide 2 is currently available on Windows PC, and was initially slated for release on the PlayStation 4 early this year.
