Regardless of what you think of the franchise-at-large, you can't blame Final Fantasy for being especially stale. Final Fantasy 10 is perfect proof of that; it discarded the return-to-form formula of its immediate predecessor in exchange for sphere grids, loosened class roles and basket-centric clothing designs. Is that your jam? Wow, really? I always figured you more of the Materia-grinding, Chocobo-breeding, environmental revolutionary type.
