Clash of Clans dev's next game, Boom Beach, now available on iOS (update)

Boom Beach, the next game from Clash of Clans developer Supercell, launched today on iOS, the App Store announced earlier this week on Twitter.

The game is already available in Canada, where Supercell soft-launched it in November 2013. Boom Beach is a strategy title in which the player attacks various island bases, including those held by other players. It is Supercell's third game, following Hay Day and the phenomenally successful Clash of Clans, both of which the studio released in 2012.

Last October, Japanese telecommunications firm SoftBank acquired a majority stake in Supercell, which is based in Helsinki, for $1.5 billion. Last month, Supercell reported it had pulled in $892 million in revenue during its 2013 fiscal year, a 783 percent increase from the $101 million of revenue the company tallied for 2012.

We've reached out to Supercell to ask about an Android version of Boom Beach, and will update this article with any information we receive.

Update: Boom Beach went live earlier today on the App Store and is now available worldwide. We've edited the story above to reflect this.
