World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition free for all this weekend

World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition will be free to play this weekend for all Xbox Live members, even those without a Gold membership, developer Wargaming announced today.

Beginning Friday, March 28 at 3:01 a.m. ET and running until Monday, March 31 at 2:59 a.m. ET, every Xbox Live member can access World of Tanks, which launched on the console in early February. During this time players can participate in the tail end of the Map Madness campaign, which has been tasking players worldwide to destroy a set number of tanks in set periods of time. The last map in this endeavor, Prokhorovka, will be released on Friday morning.

Previously, Xbox Live Silver members could take advantage of a seven-day trial for World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition. Silver members who have already played out their trial time will be able to take advantage of the open access this weekend.

World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition was revealed at E3 2013 and spent a few months in beta before launching on Feb. 12. Check out our in-depth feature on the game's development as well as our recent interview with the team regarding the title's launch.
