Alien: Isolation launches Oct. 7

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

Alien: Isolation will launch on Oct. 7. Creative Assembly, the studio developing it, announced the date today at an expo in the United Kingdom.

Set in the time of the 1979 thriller Alien, Alien: Isolation is a survival horror game in which a single, very large xenomorph hunts the player on a space station. The surroundings are deliberately "lo-fi sci-fi," says Creative Assembly, and include no technology developed after 1979.

The announcement was made at a panel EGX Rezzed in Birmingham, England, which you may watch here. Alien: Isolation will launch on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC.
