Nintendo will release a green Yoshi-themed Nintendo 3DS XL handheld alongside the launch of Yoshi's New Island on March 14, the company announced this morning.
The system, shown above, is a lime Yoshi-green with a drawing of Yoshi and an egg in the corner. The back is emblazoned with another string of Yoshi eggs. The system will be available for $199.99, the same price as a standard 3DS XL system.
In Yoshi's New Island, the latest in the Yoshi's Island series and follow-up to 2006's Yoshi's Island DS, players will once again guide Yoshi through a side-scrolling world carrying Baby Mario on his back. Players will seek to unite Mario with his equally tiny brother Luigi, lay and throw eggs to take down enemies and take advantage of new mechanics such as the Flutter Wings, which let Yoshi glide farther through the air. Yoshi's New Island will be available separately from the Yoshi 3DS XL for $39.99.
Check out Polygon's hand-on time with the title, in which we learned how Yoshi will protect Baby Mario and how to obtain super-sized eggs.
