Vlambeer's Luftrausers launches March 18

Airplane dogfighting shoot 'em up Luftrausers will launch on March 18, developer Vlambeer announced today via Twitter.

The title is slated to hit Linux, Mac and Windows PC as well as PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and is being published by Devolver Digital. Luftrausers was initially announced for PS3 and Vita in March 2013, in addition to computer platforms.

"We'll be honest with you — the reason this game is going to hit PS3 and PS Vita is because we loved working with Sony when we made Super Crate Box," Ismail wrote at the time. "We think both platforms are great and we obviously want you to be able to play our games — but we don't like dealing with people that treat us as some sort of commercial asset only. We want to work with people that love games as much as we love working on them."

Luftrausers is an updated version of Luftrauser, a free flash game previously made by Vlambeer, which is still available to play on the game's website. Luftrausers will include 125 different combinations of plane bodies, engines and guns, and more than 100 levels for players to shoot their way through.

Luftrausers is currently available for pre-order through Steam and Humble Bundle at 10 percent off its $9.99 price tag. According to Devolver, a special Air Raid Pack edition will also be available for $749.99; this pack includes one DRM-free copy of Luftrausers and 100 Steam keys players can gift.
