Shooter-puzzler hybrid PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this summer, developer Double Eleven announced today in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate combines the missions of its predecessors PixelJunk Shooter and PixelJunk Shooter 2 into one seamless campaign and retains the titles' core focus of exploration, puzzle solving, collecting items and "blasting things," according to the post by Double Eleven's Richard Snowdon.
In addition to running at 60 fps and featuring a visual overhaul for the PS4 — including new lighting and particle effects as well as improved fluid physics throughout environments — PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will include a new type of ship. This new 3D ship has been designed to give better visual feedback through revamped, more expressive animations. A new, "more intuitive and informative" HUD has also been implemented, with Double Eleven taking a more minimalistic approach to dedicate more screen real estate to gameplay, and balance tweaks have been made to the scoring system.
PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate will be cross-play and cross-save compatible, allowing PS4 and Vita players to participate together and save progression across systems.
