The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll hitting 3DS eShop this summer

The third entry in the Denpa Men Nintendo 3DS role-playing series, The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll, will launch in North America this summer, developer Genius Sonority announced.

The Denpa Men series used the 3DS' camera and augmented reality features to let players "capture" tiny creatures projected onto their surroundings. These creatures, Denpa Men, can also be obtained by connection to Wi-Fi signals and scanning QR codes. Each Denpa Man has its own name, appearance and set of abilities, with no two alike. Players can then take their Denpa Men into combat against enemies and use them to collect hidden treasures to progress through the game.

In The Denpa Men 3, Denpa Men can fight against being captured by throwing colored balls at the player. A number of new weapons can be used to stop them, however, such as a Denpa-collecting antenna. Other features include the ability to customize Denpa Men's houses, share Denpa Men with friends and battle other Denpa Men collectors over the an internet connection. The Denpa Men 3 also allows players to take and share in-game screenshots.

The original The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave launched for 3DS in Feb. 2012 in Japan and later that same year in North America. Last year a sequel was released, The Denpa Men 2: Beyond The Waves. To commemorate the announcement of The Denpa Men 3's impending launch, The Denpa Men 2 will be on sale in the 3DS eShop today through March 13.
