Hellraid: The Escape heading to iOS May 15

Shortbreak Studios will release Hellraid: The Escape — a game set in the same world as Techland's upcoming hack-and-slash game Hellraid — for iOS devices May 15, the developer announced today.

The Escape will feature a separate experience from Hellraid. After a sorcerer imprisons your soul within a magical fortress, players must figure out who they are and how to escape. In addition to exploring and battling demons, players will solve puzzles. The game includes cloud saves, achievements and free updates with no in-app purchases.

"Each puzzle in Hellraid: The Escape is a unique experience," creator and producer Andrzej Koloska said in a press statement. "No riddle uses the same mechanic, so players will discover something new around every corner. Our combat system stands out as well. I don't want to unveil too much, but since there're no weapons in The Escape, in order to defeat demons guarding the magic prison, players will have to prove they've got cunning."

Shortbreak Studios, which functions as a part of Techland, previously worked on titles such as Beat the Melody, Heal Them All and Sugar High. The action-adventure game is being developed "in close cooperation" with Techland, best known for their work on Dead Island and Dying Light.

Hellraid: The Escape will be available via the App Store for $2.99. For more on the game, check out the trailer above.

Hellraid is expected to launch for PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 this year. The game was originally announced in 2012 as Project Hell.
