Infamous: Second Son publisher Sony Computer Entertainment sold more than 1 million copies of the PlayStation 4 action title in the game's first nine days on the market worldwide, the company announced today.

The figure includes sales of physical copies at retail as well as digital copies purchased on the PlayStation Store. According to Asad Qizilbash, marketing manager for Sony Computer Entertainment America, the total makes Second Son the fastest-selling Infamous game yet. Three Infamous titles were released prior to Second Son, all on PlayStation 3: the original game from 2009, Infamous; its sequel from 2011, Infamous 2; and the 2011 downloadable spinoff, Infamous: Festival of Blood.

Infamous: Second Son launched March 21 worldwide except in Japan, where it will be available in May. Sony's sales numbers represent copies sold through March 29. Developer Sucker Punch Productions is in the middle of its schedule of free bonus missions for the game, "Infamous Paper Trail."
