Double Fine's Hack 'n' Slash entry into Steam Early Access imminent

Hack 'n' Slash, Double Fine Productions hacking-themed action puzzle game conceived during the company's annual Amnesia Fortnight game jam, is just weeks away from entering Steam Early Access for Windows PC, Mac and Linux.

First revealed last December, the game is slated for a full launch this summer where it will be available to purchase for $14.99. Double Fine has released a parody video featuring creator Brandon Dillon, gameplay footage and "an important message about the dangers of hacking."

Players are placed in the role of an elf named Alice who "uses her computer hacking skills to cheat her way through a classic action/adventure game." Alice can hack in-game objects — such as blocks, barrels, moving platforms and enemies — and manipulate the world to reverse engineer the game itself.

To learn more about the game, its basic hacking action Alice that can do with her USB connector-tipped sword and how Double Fine plans to ease players into Hack 'n' Slash's mechanics, check out our preview and interview with project lead Brandon Dillon.
