Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day, a side-scrolling action game tied into manga artist and Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo's four-part animated film Short Peace, is available now for PlayStation 3 in Australia and Europe, Bandai Namco Games Europe announced today.
The PlayStation 3-exclusive video game component is directed by Goichi "Suda51" Suda, whose credits include killer7, Lollipop Chainsaw, Killer Is Dead and the No More Heroes franchise, and tells the fifth and final part of Short Peace. Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day follows the titular hero, "an average girl by day and a deadly assassin by night," according to Bandai Namco.
"For the first time in video game history, Bandai Namco Games Europe is pleased to bring to players this tremendous cross-media experience," said Herve Hoerdt, vice president of IP strategy at Bandai Namco Games Europe. "We hope that players will enjoy discovering the unique and mesmerizing universe of Short Peace as much as the directors behind this gigantic project enjoyed creating it. Short Peace is the proof that only the video game medium can generate experiences very deep yet exciting at the same time."
The four film components of Short Peace were released last July in Japan. A short from the compilation, Possessions, was nominated for a 2014 Academy Award. You can watch a recent trailer for Short Peace: Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day above.
