Free-to-play brawler Soulcalibur: Lost Swords is now available on PlayStation 3 in North America, publisher Bandai Namco announced today.
Players can choose from a roster of the Soulcalibur series' most popular characters and send them into combat. Lost Swords utilizes an item discovery and crafting system and elemental-based fighting mechanics to change up combat. Players can use weapons and armor taken from defeated enemies or build new ones from raw materials and imbue them with element-specific characteristics, such as fire and wind. Different weapon and element types will be stronger or weaker against certain foes in battle.
Characters in Lost Swords can be customized through completing quests, which will unlock accessories and other items to equip to fighters. Player-built characters can also be uploaded and shared with other players to be used as a summonable partner character. The more times this summoned character is used in battle, the more Friend Points he or she will earn, making them stronger.
Those who download Soulcalibur: Lost Swords in its first month on the PlayStation Store will also get an additional set of bonus items.
