The open beta phase for Funcom's massively multiplayer online role-playing game Lego Minifigures Online will launch this June, according to the game's official website.
Interested participants can sign up to be notified when the Windows PC beta goes live through the website. The beta will be available in "select markets," though Funcom has not provided details on specifics. The full game is expected to launch later this summer.
Lego Minifigures Online is based on the popular collectible building-block toys and is being touted as a child-friendly MMO. In the game, players will be able to collect Lego toys and take on adventures. In-game worlds each have a theme, and currently revealed worlds include medieval environments, pirates and outer space. The game has been in closed beta since last fall.
Last week Funcom announced it had secured an additional USD $1.6 million for continued development on the upcoming title.
