Gameloft is readying three of its most popular titles for the Amazon Fire TV's launch, including Asphalt 8: Airborne, the Paris-based publisher of mobile games announced today.
Asphalt 8: Airborne, the latest entry in the well-known Asphalt series of racing games, debuted last August. Gameloft is also releasing Fire TV versions of Despicable Me: Minion Rush, a tie-in game for 2013's Despicable Me 2, and Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, the 2012 first-person shooter.
"With Amazon's broad consumer base and quality reputation in the market, it made sense to optimize some of our top games for Fire TV," said Baudouin Corman, Gameloft's VP of publishing for the Americas, in a press release. "This collaboration broadens the reach of our games, allowing us to bring even more high-quality content to the consumers' living room."
Amazon demoed Asphalt 8 running on a Fire TV during the device's reveal event in New York this morning. The Fire TV is a $99 set-top box, similar to a Roku or Apple TV, that offers movies, TV shows, music, games and more; the games can be played with a controller that costs an extra $39.99. According to Amazon, more than 100 games are available at launch — the device ships today — and thousands will be available by the end of May.
