Defense Grid 2, Hidden Path Entertainment's upcoming tower defense game, will be playable by the public for the first time on Xbox One and Windows PC at PAX East 2014.
Defense Grid 2 charges players with protecting human colonies from alien invaders. The game is a sequel to Defense Grid: The Awakening, released in 2008; its predecessor follows an alien invasion of a planet with a dormant defense grid. In addition to a new engine, Defense Grid 2 will introduce new characters and two-player options for co-op or competitive modes. The PC edition of the game will allow players to create and share their own maps.
The game is expected to launch this fall for Linux, Mac, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. At PAX East, Hidden Path representatives will demo a single-player map from the game.
