Adventure game Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure will launch for Windows PC and Mac on April 22, creator Chris Jones announced via a brief video.

Tesla Effect marks the return of Tex Murphy after close to 16 years; the series features a "down on his luck" private investigator as he roams post-apocalyptic San Francisco. The game features live-action, full-motion scenes against 3D backgrounds, interactive dialogue and detective style gameplay in which players investigate crimes and question witnesses. Tesla Effect picks up immediately after a cliffhanger from 1998's Tex Murphy: Overseer.

Watch the trailer below for Jones' full announcement, as well as a look at "classic scenes" from previous games.

Pre-orders for the game, priced at $19.99, are available on GoG and Steam now. Those that pre-order Tesla Effect will gain access to a previous game, The Pandora Directive, and the Tex Murphy Live Jazz soundtrack when it releases.

Tesla Effect was funded via Kickstarter in 2012; the campaign raised more than $598,000 with the help of nearly 7,000 backers. For more on Tex Murphy's return, check our our interview with the game's creators.
