AirMech Arena, Ubisoft and Carbon Games' free-to-play real-time strategy game, will be available to download for Xbox 360 this summer via Xbox Live, Ubisoft announced today.
The game takes place in a "war-torn future," where players take control of transforming robots called AirMechs to capture and protect bases. In addition to unlockable units, pilots and items, AirMech Arena also features single-player and multiplayer modes. AirMech Arena's cooperative and competitive modes allow teams of two-to-three players to play with friends while defending bases against enemies.
According to VP of digital publishing at Ubisoft Chris Early, the game was a "natural choice" to expand the company's console selections.
"Carbon Games has created a unique experience, combining strategy and competition in an accessible free-to-play format that we think will resonate with console gamers," Early said.
AirMech Arena was rated by the Australian Classification Board in February. Carbon Games released the original AirMech in 2012 as a free-to-play title for Windows PC via Steam and in the Chrome Store.
AirMech Arena will continue to receive "regular" content updates with new maps, events and more after it launches. Watch the trailer above to see the game in action.
