The upcoming PlayStation 4 version of MLB 14 The Show brings a visual upgrade to the franchise, and that comes through primarily in the game's stadiums, as seen in a trailer released today by publisher Sony Computer Entertainment.
MLB 14 on PS4 takes advantage of the new console's hardware to deliver more fully realized versions of the ballparks for each of the 30 MLB clubs. The game's developers at Sony San Diego are utilizing techniques such as specular maps to create realistic lighting on surfaces like pools and jumbotrons, and advances in processing power and memory to fill the seats with much more lively and varied crowds. In addition, the PS4 version of MLB 14 includes bat boys and children for the first time.
MLB 14 The Show will be released May 6 on PS4. In the meantime, you can read our full review of the PlayStation 3 version, which launched April 1 alongside its PlayStation Vita counterpart.
