Unity developers can bring games to PS Mobile for free

A preview version of the Unity game engine for PlayStation Mobile app development is currently available, giving users the opportunity to bring games to PlayStation Mobile compatible devices for no additional cost.

Users of Unity can register for free with Sony Computer Entertainment to access a license for the game engine to test on PS Mobile and PS Vita platforms. A full release of the engine for PSM development is scheduled to arrive this summer.

Unity support for PS Vita devices was introduced in January, with features including Trophies, Friends list and matchmaking. This marks part of an ongoing partnership between Unity and Sony that began at the start of the console maker's PlayStation 4 campaign.

A talk on Unity for PS Mobile is slated to take place at Unite Japan 2014 in Tokyo today, headed by Erik Hemming from Unity Technologies.
